India's historic trade links with the Arab World, including the UAE, are well known.It is estimated that about 33% of the total population and over 50% of the work force in the UAE are Indians. They are the largest expatriate community in the UAE
Keeping in line with the diverse linguistic and cultural ethos of India, there are various linguistic/regional associations for social and cultural activities. All sections of the Indian community are culturally very active. There are over 100 Indian cultural and literary associations in the UAE.
